Имајући у виду језик кризе који обележава говор о читалачким навикама младих данас, али и све већу популарност књижевности за младе (YА), Елизабет Роуз Грунер (Elisabeth Rose Gruner) у студији Конструисање адолесцентског читаоца у савременој књижевности за младе (Constructing the Adolescent Reader in Contemporary Young Adult Fiction) настоји да одговори на нека од кључних питања која се тичу теме читања. На питања о функцији читања, његовој вредности и разлозима због којих га је потребно промовисати, ауторка одговара анализирајући романе који тематизују читање у жанру књижевности за младе, намењеном специфично овој групи.
